Red Bud Hollow Form with Blackwood Finial
approx. 18" x 7" Finish Acrylic Spray and buffed.
This is my first turning using Red Bud, very nice to work with.
Mike, cute title. I have never seen red bud that big.
Nice form and the finial is very nicely done. One criticism - the finial looks like an after thought; the vessel by itself, in my mind, needs no finial.
Hal and Ed,Thanks for your comments.
Hal, You have made me take a second look at the piece and l cannot decide, l have always been in the mind a finial adds to a turning, l would interested in others thoughts.
Mike, the wood is so pretty by itself that the finial, in my mind, does not add to the beauty. That being said, you are the artist, and what pleases you is most important.
Hal,
Being fairly new to turning l am really interested into what people think of my pieces and give constructive criticism so l can progress and improve. From the time l finished this piece my wife said she did not think l should have made the neck, which may make the finial look like an after thought.
I do wish that members would critique turnings more on this page so l we could all learn from other peoples turnings.
Thanks again for your comments Hal and l welcome anybody else's. Mike
