This started out as a walnut log that sat in a field for a couple years and rotted on one side. I thought I'd use the wormy part and try my hand at a sculptural piece. It sits about 18" tall. The cavern part was left unfinished and the rest is tung oil. Used about every tool in the shop on this one, from chain saw to dremel and a lot of Abranet. The candle base is spalted sycamore and was turned eccentrically into an oval. It's also reversible. You can pull out the base (with the brass rods) and turn it over to put in shorter candles like votive or tea lights that require a wider diameter hole. The moon is brass also to tie into the candle's brass rods. Sure would love to hear some feedback on this, good or bad. It looks great lit up in a dark room. Think Halloween. Thanks for looking, Don L.
