An ash bowl coloured with spirit stains and gold acrylic paint and textured with a small angle grinder. Finished with acrylic lacquer. Happy to have any feedback!
So good to see how you have done so well with texture and stains on the exterior of this bowl and kept the inside as "simple plain ash" . I like the contrast! Great!
Beautiful embellishment, Stewart. This is just my 2¢, but my thoughts are that I would reduce the height of the foot slightly and make a more subtle transition in the ogee curve on the side. As it is there appears to be a bulge at about midpoint. These are both just minor nits that are just my opinion and nothing more than that. Overall, it is very nice.
@Bill Boehme Thank you, Bill. I agree about the foot - it's waiting for me to make a decision about what to do with it. I think the bulge might be more the effect of the texturing. This picture doesn't show it so well, but actually there's a small flat in the curve just after the foot...
Very nice piece Stewart. I too really like the contrast with the unaltered wood interior. A notable departure from your coloured-rim platters (?). I'll need to watch your video later to see the order of your staining, paint ans texturing to get this effect
