Thanks for showing this view, Bernie, I see how the staves are joined in pairs with no bevel, and then beveled as a paired unit. This is some very precise assembly and you did some nice detailing on the base as well. What is the diameter?

Robert, the size is 4" dia. x 8" tall.
The layers (each wood 1/8" thick) were glued in order as follows,(walnut,padauk,maple,walnut,maple,paduak) edges prepared and then these strips were flipped end for end and glued together to form "wood offset". These were then ripped (simple angle) into staves. By 'tuning'in the saw angle , was able to avoid sanding which might have affected precision. Glued half a ring at a time (dowels between 2 halves) and ringed clamped. Hot melt to sacrificial faceplate and turned. The base is a segmented ring with an ebony insert.
Yes, planning and precision in each step was vital on this.
