I enrolled in a turning course taught by Bob Rosand at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts last week. This course was sponsored by the Chesapeake Woodturners.
Bob focused on turning small objects that require alot more finesse than anything that I had ever attempted. I turned this proto-ornament during the class. The globe is hollow and the icicle and cap were partly turned using Bob's famous small round skews.
Bob has a number of articles on his website (
www.rrosand.com) that describe the tools and techniques that he uses to do this type of turning. Susan Rosand often paints holiday landscape scenes on Bob's ornamets. Their work is truly phenomenal!
