Celtic Cross

Celtic Cross

Fitting for easter, an empty cross on an empty vessel.
Bernie-

What kind of wood?
Size?
Finish on the outside and inside of the piece?
Is the cross painted, stenciled?

Nice shape and size and the color of the cross brings it all together.

Gary

Birch, 6x12, no finish, I used transfer paper and burned and shaded the cross and used leather dye (ox-blood red) to give it a touch of color. Sent this one away with my oldest daughter as a gift to one of her bible school professors (one of the traditions with my kids)

Beautiful piece Bernie. The artwork with the cross is exceptional. What did you use for the white color, and how did you apply the red? I assume all of the black is pyrography.

The wood is very nice clear northern white birch. I haven't put a finish on it at all and applied the "oxblood red" leather dye with a very fine paintbrush.
