Brazilian Kingwood Sun Hat Box

Time for a brand new style of box! This one inspired by Ray Key's sun hat boxes (there is one photo on the Internet of it) this box is turned from Kingwood (Dalbergia cearensis). The style of box has features that are different then my normal boxes, a more squat, round bottom, a very domed top, and a bead on the edge of the lid. Turned, hollowed and finished with abrasive wax followed by melamine lacquer. Size is 1-3/4" diameter x 1-1/2" tall. An interesting style, one I will make a few more of in different woods!

As always, made with beautiful wood and considerable skill. How do you assess your result, Gabriel?
Thank you Dean! I would say it turned out just as I wanted it too. If I would change anything I maybe would make the overhang on the lid a bit more pronounced.
