Bradford Pear Open Form Vase

Bradford Pear Open Form Vase

Endgrain openform vase turned from Bradford Pear crotchwood. Measures 10" wide by 9" tall. Sits on a 1-1/8" foot. Finshed in waterlox and buffed with 0000 steel wool. Comments welcome on the turning and photo. I turned this before Christmas as a gift for my mother. I have been busy building a pair of bookcases this year and just recently got back to turning. It sure is good to be back.
It is a beautiful piece Paul. What type of tools did you use to hollow out the inside? I like the balance and general form. It is elegant.

A very creative piece, and an excellent photo!

Well done Paul. You placed the critical parts of the serpentine profile in just the right places to make the piece pop.

Thanks everyone for your comments and thank you for the POD honors.
Marc, I hollowed it out starting with a bowl gouge scooping from the center out to the edge. I followed with the swivel tip cutter on a Sorby Hollowmaster and finished with the round scraper on the Hollowmaster.
