Hopefully, this will work - this time.
About 5 3/4" diameter, in poplar, is a simple somewhat familiar object - that behaves in a very unfamiliar way. when the lid is lifted off - or there's a loud noise in the vicinity of the sugar bowl - it waddles away - stops - and looks and listens.
There's a little autonomous micro robot called the CRAB, by HexBug, underneath the bowl. It has a light sensor and a sound sensor, a little tiny electronic "brain" and a motor that opereates the crab's legs when either light or a loud sound is detected.
The challeng of turning this piece was getting its weight down to 62 grams - a bit over 2 ounces - the maximum carrying capactiy of the CRAB. The cross section of the piece is that of an overhanging rim bowl - with an upside down bowl inside - the latter to hide the micro robot under. Did a lot of light turning - weighing - turning a little bit more - weighing - put a light inside and check for really thin areas - turning then sanding some more - weighing . . .
