Bois de Rose Capsule Box

Bois de Rose Capsule Box

When it comes to color of a box, this is one of the richest and darkest box I probably have turned. When turning this the wood is more light, but when sealed with finish, it is very very rich and saturated in color. This billet of Bois de Rose (Dalbergia maritima) was pretty small as this wood is extremely rare, so I decided to make a capsule box. Turned, hollowed, and finished with gloss lacquer. Size is 1 3/4" tall x 1 5/8" diameter. The strip of brighter color and the glossy finish make this box really stand out!
