It is obvious that you have got uniform wall thickness otherwise that knot would not have survived with only a slight distortion. Nice clean design.

Thanks Don. That knot at the rim is an optical illusion, I guess created by the camera angle, as it blends into the rim. In person, viewed from the top, the rim looks the same all the way around the bowl.....funny how it looks distorted when its not.

Just starting, how do you keep your blanks from cracking? Is it kiln dried first?

No Kiln drying. I do roughout green wood, seal it with Anchorseal, and place in a paper bag, close it up for a few months, and then put back on the lathe for a secondary turning to true up the form. You have to leave the roughout a bit thick, about -1/10th thickness of the diameter. Of course, use a tenon to hold it on the lathe, a bit oversized, so you can true it up for the second trip on the lathe for final turning.
