From a piece of 8" x 22 black ash board, using some new-found courage garnered from Ed Kelle. I have a good tenon for the lid, and the lump that allows it is hidden inside.
Nice job...but would it have been better to turn the outside of the lid first, and the tenon, then the inside. Then use a "pie chuck", turn around and clean up the tenon and form a base or mount for the finial???? Oh well....to each his own....good attention to the lips on top and bottom.
With the bigger tenons it shouldn't be as risky to turn out to in, actually. Vibration would still be a problem at 8" and 1/8. Guess it's more the outside/inside habit from general bowl turning. Using my 4" expansion jaws inside stabilized the little stinker pretty well as he tried to vibrate and disintegrate from fractures along the annual rings.
