Basket Illusion

The basket pattern was turned on an ornamental lathe. The main challenge was to get a rosette pattern that gave the desired effect. The cutter is a 1/8" end mill using a drilling frame. The wood is Maple and the exterior is finished with General Finishes Java Gel stain. Size is 3" diameter.

Anyone who wants the details of the rosette design can send me a private email for more information.
I agree - this is really cool. Does anyone ever post a walk-trough on the overall process for stuff like this? This one is baffling me.
