I often see the crotch pieces from trees either discarded or cut in a way that makes them difficult for turning. When the tree fallers cut the tree they like to buck it up into small manageable pieces, useless for large bowls that way. This tree was cut by a contractor for Hydro so they cut the tree into large 5 ft chunks and leave it where it falls. Just perfect for me. You can see how one branch in the crotch was dying while the other branch was quite alive. 5 pewa patches to dress up the small crack from drying. 17.5 X 13 X 2.75 finished with 2 coats tung oil.
