Amphora III

This segmented wood turning is the third in my series of amphorae I have been working on recently. It is made from 380 individual pieces that I cut from boards of sapele, padauk, and maple woods. Then I glued them together and turned them on my lathe. The "Greek key" motif around the center accents the classical amphora design. It is almost 14" tall, with lid, and is 6" wide. I gave it a tung oil and varnish finish.
