Ambrosia maple

7” by 6” my first piercing, tried to make it look like an uncovered iron grate
I keep coming back to stare at this... if this isn't the turning of the week or month, something is wrong in the universe!

The iron bar look is dead nuts on... creating that visual construct of very old with the very modern overall shape is quite ingenious. Also, the design gives the beholder a view inside the mysterious hollow form but the inside (the part everyone who looks at a hollow form desperately wants to see) is still "protected" by the iron gate... Visible but unattainable... untouchable...

This piece makes so many statements and is a symbol of so many human instincts... My guess is when you started out making this, you just wanted to make this piece to see if you could do it technically... what you've achieved, though, is so far beyond that.

It hits a nerve...

Wow! Thanks John and your right started out to just see if I could. It’s amazing how things pan out as you go.
