African Padauk Platter

Most of the Padauk I see in Canada is dimensioned lumber. This piece was live sawn and still had the sapwood on it. It is 21 inches in diameter, 1.6 inches thick. I sometimes struggle to get a good finish on Padauk. This has 2 coats of wipe-on poly. If there’s too much oil in the wood, the poly won’t polymerize and results in a sticky finish.
