Turned from a red oak log to show the natural state of decay from within. I turned more of an egg shape to capture it. This piece is 19" x 13" turned, air dried 9 months, and returned. The cracks were filled with recycled coffee grinds to match the color within. I used a series of lacquer sanding sealer and sanded between coats to get a smooth finish and it has a satin lacquer final coat. I wore safety glass under my face shield while turning and kept an arms distance while the piece was spinning. Turning it was 'fun'
