Myrtle Box & Tasmanian Blackwood Finial
8" dia. x 5 1/4" tall, GF salad bowl finish
Lid was cored from box and flipped over.

Ed, very nice job on making the lid from a core. And the ogee form is very pleasing to the eye. Your center half dome on the finial is distracting to the eye and the mind when I think of picking up the lid. Without that the work has a very nice flow to it.
 
Thanks Kelly, I didn't want to waste the wood so coring it seemed like a good way to go. I wanted the finial to be more utilitarian than the dainty type you see too often. It's supposed to mimic stacked up bowl cores.
