Ponderosa Pine, 13" dia x 4 1/2" h textured exterior. this wood came from an old growth Pine that fell after a wildfire a few years back.
Nice job, the pic sure does not imply the true scale, I would have guessed about 5". I like the texturing a lot and it's good that you rescued the tree to give it new life. Great work, good luck
 
The wood is very plain, but I expect that from pine. The shape in the photograph, in my mind, is as perfect as you can get. I especially like the way the rim is beveled out toward the exterior of the bowl.

With wood like this, I think, too much texture can overpower the strength of the form. The knot is just the right counterpoint.

Two thumbs up.
