2nd Segmented Bowl

This pushed the limits of my knowledge, newbie skills and my lathe. Flaws and all, I'm happy with it for being the second I've ever tried. From bottom to top: African mahogany, zebrawood, oak and purpleheart, black walnut, oak and purpleheart, zebrawood, African mahogany. Tried my luck with a maple floating base. Finished with Myland's, and I might coat with shellac. 9" diameter on top rim, just under 4 1/2" tall.
Outstanding second bowl Brett! That looks like a floating disk at the bottom, correct? Nicely done Brett!!
Hi Russ and thank you. Yes, that was my attempt at a floating disk. I ended up exposing the edge and included a keeper ring over the top of it. Lesson learned for the next one. :)
