Did this for our woodturning club challenge. We were to exchange a piece of wood to use in a turning either by itself or by adding other wood to it. I was given a small half round piece of walnut with some punk and worm holes, so till I cut away everything that was bad and only had a small piece to work with. I used the exchanged walnut to make a hat for a snowman, and added a maple body and was returned as a finished piece.
