1853 Gabon Ebony.

1853 Gabon Ebony.

Original turning block was 22% MC, and after roughing and anchorseal, it took 11 months to stabilize. 5 5/16" x 2 7/8", 12.0 oz, sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buff. Gabon ebony is a wood that produces one of the finest surfaces of any wood I've ever turned.

Another stunner….your work is so easily recognizable and always beautiful.

Thanks Richard..... :)

I've gotten to the point where each individual bowl means very little to me beyond that moment when it's completed, and can take a moment to enjoy some sense of satisfaction. That moment quickly fades away, though! It's the "process" that I've developed that holds my interest. That process is in a continual state of change, as shop incidentals are modified, or abandoned and re-engineered!

Because of these things, sometimes I feel a little "robotic".....although I do seem to maintain some sense of personal artistic purpose....!
