Cherry and Walnut Burl box with hand chased Lignum Vitae inserts and coffee inlay. 8”x8” (Detail)
Very interesting piece Pat! I am interested how you held the piece to make that many equal-sized facets!

I built a donut chuck for the drilling and to make the groove for the coffee inlay and used my cone live center to line the piece up in the chuck before I tightened it down. The cones were turned (and then turned a second time) with the threaded insert already attached and the I just eyeballed to get them as close as I could. I made a threaded chuck to hold them as I turned them to keep them centered. This piece added many new tricks to the bag 😂.
