I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend the day in the shop with Walt Wager today. I didn’t know a Walt prior to today and only met him briefly after I won this trip to his shop at the last Florida Symposium. After approximately 7 hours with him I feel like we had spent years together as friends and Woodturners. It is not an easy task to make someone feel as comfortable and welcome as he did. We started with Walt asking what I would like help with, followed by numerous other projects, scenarios, and solutions to issues I’ve encountered and hadn’t resolved. Walt’s experiences and knowledge regarding all aspects of turning and embellishments is exemplary! I know if you don’t live in northwest Florida you probably can’t visit Walt, but I would encourage everyone to search out fine people like Walt and absorb all you can from them. Thanks a million Florida Woodturners Symposium, and mostly, thank you Walt Wager!
