I have been operating without a work bench, but am working on a bench now. I use a rolling tool cart for lathe accessories and move it to whichever lathe I am using. (Easier than changing the lathe tooling back and forth) I do not even put my lathe chisels behind the lathe.

Me too Perry. It was under $100 on sale at HD. Five drawers and a great top. I’m about to put a wood top with holes for chuck holding on it.
I think the table is a good idea. There are always tools and other items you're using on a project that need to be set down between uses, and things like chucks and keys that always need a place to be.
I have a large table behind me to my left for this purpose. You might ultimately do better with shelves and cabinets, etc., but begore investing in design and construction, a simple folding table (as Doug suggested) would get you started.
two years ago, HF had a fairly nice rolling tool cabinet for $109.00, with four drawers and a top that swings up. I put two magnetic strips horizontally on the underside of the top. My chisels cling there just nicely and I have noticed no magnetic effect on the chisels. The drawers for glues, chucks, jaws, drill chucks, etc, even one for sand paper. The bottom shelf holds turning stock. I generally keep the stand just to my left while working at the lathe. When I move to the next lathe, the tool cabinet rolls along.
Yeah, you Gerald's are as hard to move as a General.
I think you are reading too closely and now you know why my English grades were a bit of a challenge.

So I have started making cabinets that will be on the long wall(about 13'6") that will be behind me while standing at the lathe. On one end there is a set that is 4', and on the other there is one 6', with about 3'6" in between, I put the counter top on this weekend, 1 layer of 3/4" B/C plywood on bottom and a layer of 3/4" pre finished birch plywood on top. I mounted a 7" woodworkers vise on one end of the open space, cabinet top is 37" tall. I plan on putting a total of 20 drawers in these cabinets and having 1 section for adjustable shelves. What do you find to be the most efficient drawer height for the things that you keep in drawers?
