Hello

I would like to know has anyone a working knowledge of the
Banjo Outrigger accessory for a Record Power lathe.

I have a Laguna 1836 and sometimes I seem to need better
positioning of my banjo movement/tool rest....I am sure
all of us have experienced that....
so I am questioning would it be worth the $65...

It has a 1" post same as my Laguna. So it should fit...
I know the Robust has good reviews of its dog-leg.

Sold in the US at Highland Woodworking.

thanks

Actually...I am so nuts I was not thinking of this as an outrigger!!!!

like i should have..
What i need is the Robust dog leg...

I am using my old man brain "card" for my own misunderstanding
of the outrigger..haha

thanks

The Record Power Harold Outrigger is basically an extra big dog leg. I might just find a use for that with my rotating headstock.

I have the Robust dog leg and it's a good bit of kit. Like everything else from them the robust goes in before the Robust goes on. It will give your banjo about 2 1/4" more reach, but will also add 1" of height so you do need to make sure that won't force your tool rest to be too high.

The RP is interesting as the outrigger dips back down as it extends from the banjo to the tool rest giving back some of that height. You said the tool post on the outrigger is 1", but I didn't find any description of the diameter. Did you speak to Highland? If I were buying I'd also want to know that the tool post on the outrigger is long enough to reach the set screw on my banjo.

Thanks Mark.....

My first thought on the RP outrigger would be a great assist
to my laguna banjo......but then I thought it possibly may not
fit or be too high when raised up by my laguna banjo.
I also have a RP catalog showing tool rests with 1" posts/stems
as RP calls them..

Yes I need to call Highland WW for their thoughts on adapting
the RP to my laguna........and the question of the set screw also.
