As some of you know, I am brand spanking new to wood turning.. I have been trying to get my feet wet, so to speak, as cheaply as possible. After getting some great advice on what lathe tools should be my initial purchase ( already having an inexpensive lathe), I opted for a 1/2" bowl gouge, 1" roughing gouge, 3/8" spindle gouge , 1" standard skew, 1" round nose scraper, and a 3/4" X 1/8" parting tool all M2 HSS steel. While these don't have a big name engraved on the handle ( they are Benjamin's Best from Penn State Industries), they were ( from what I read ) a good value at all six for about $100.00... They arrived quickly and look like quality tools to me . We will see …..
