This is a spalted maple bowl I turned for my cousin's wedding gift approximately 12"x5".
This was also my first use of the woodburning kit I got at the AAW Symposium.
This is a multi-wood box, all pieces turned from end grain combining spalted beech for the body, East Indian rosewood for the lid, and spalted beech for the lid inlay. This box is a little less than 2 3/8" in height and diameter.
A simple bowl turned from a piece of spalted Norway Maple. This piece was roughed out as a demonstration piece during a course that I taught at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts earlier this year.

From stump in front yard. Yellow bellied sap suckers killed the tree about 6 years ago. Beautiful spalting! 5 1/4 in. tall, 4 1/4 in. wide, 1/8 in. thick, very light. Finished with water-born acrylic, waxed.
This hollow form/vase is made from a single piece of old growth Spalted Curly Ambrosia Maple and segmented with Walnut veneer.
It is 6 3/8 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches in diameter.
The finish is shellac and wax.
This was a piece my Dad picked up while working on the horse pasture. He handed it to me, and several months later I gave it back like this for his birthday.
3.5" x 4" Laquer Satin finish.
This one had a baby brother but it cracked in pieces on the final pass on the lathe.
