Finally getting some respectable results

I'm still pretty much a newcomer, but I think I have finally gotten some decent output. First is some Spalted Hackberry that I bought as a blank. Finished with wax. 5" outside dia. x 4.5" high. Wall thickness - 3/16"

Second is some Rosewood I got from Viable Lumber. It is 6" dia. x 3.25" high. Wall thickness - ~1/8".

Please Critique.

Keep a wet rag over your nose and mouth as you work the rosewood, and have some Benadryl on hand too. Folks get sensitized fast to any of the Dalbergia sp. Trapping the dust before you inhale it will protect you against the worst (respiratory) case fairly well. Contact dermatitis should be considered a warning.

I see you think thin is important. An opinion I don't share. Now good figure and finish on the wood - I like!

Alan, without the foot, you would have a Hawaiian Calabash form. It looks simple but is a dificult shape to pull off. Very nice.
