3520B remote switch question

The spirit finally moved me to install the remote switch on my PO 3520 B. The schematics were clear and the installation was quick. The switch worked properly most of the week. Today I shut off the switch and it would not restart the lathe. I checked for power and loose connections but all was the way it should be. I removed the remote switch and restored the wiring to it's original state and the lathe works again. Has anyone had a remote switch fail in a matter of days?

The remote is somewhat notorious to fail

usually due to dust. Info on the Mustard Monster Site HERE might help. Tho that is pretty quick for dust to be the culprit. WMH is pretty good at sending out replacement switches so that is worth a try. The page referenced above talks about how to isolate the problem. And protecting the switch from dust. A sturdy plastic bag with taped edges has kept me going for several years, while before I was plagued with failures.

I had two of the PM remote switches die within a few months of arrival. I replaced the second one with a pull on/push off switch from a boat and golf cart supply place. It's a 12v dashboard switch that has ample capacity for the low voltage circuit that's doing he switching on the 3520B. It has worked without a hitch for 3 years or so now. It's also much smoother to operate than the red switch in the headstock, so I tend to leave that switch on all the time, and use the remote one as my primary power switch when using the lathe.
