Wings of Chance

This piece is a natural edge vase turned end grain from a Pecan crotch having a slight twist in the branches. The wood was dry from curing in the shop for about 2 years. The bark remained in good condition but was stabilized. The vase was sanded to grade 400, with melamine sealer applied at the 180 grade sanding. Three coats of Waterlox finish were applied and smoothed with steel wool following each coat. Final finish was buffed with the Beall system. The vase is 6 diameter by 10 high and 3/16 thick.
