Very Hexy

Very Hexy

14” x 9”, made with Maple, Wenge, Bloodwood, Yellowheart, and Chacka Viga. There are 62 rows, 288 segments per row, for a total count of nearly 18,000 pieces. This project took around 250 hours to make. The 24” index wheel I made for myself, and many others, allows for a maximum of 288 segments per row. So, I reached the maximum number of segments on this vase. I want to give a shout out to Lloyd Johnson the mastermind behind Segment PRO which is the design program I use. This program has allowed me to design much faster and come up with better designs. When I requested it, Lloyd modified the program to increase the maximum piece per row three times: 144, 180 and then 288. Thank you Lloyd! I have no plans to ask for a fourth change … 288 is enough.
How amazing is 288 segments per row? I will tell you this has never been seen before in segmenting! Every piece hand glued in place; no lamination trickery! This vessel is outstanding Tom; the pattern, the colors and the form are all beyond superb; they are beyond excellent!! Perfection has been closely approached!!

hey Tom, this crazy man, a segmented masterclass piece for sure, just love the colour shift to the centre band it creates real movement. Tip of the hat
