It's amazing what you can get out of a small block of wood!
Neal Addy and I had a little wood trade and this is what I turned from the piece he sent.
The blank was 4 3/4" X 3" and had a little problem area in the lite colored sapwood. It had a small crack that ran at least 1/2" deep and tapered off about half way down the blank. After studding the blank for a bit I decided to make one of the forms I had not made in a while and save the excess for a collar and finial trying to use every little bit I could of this beautiful little piece of wood.
Measures 7 3/4" tall with the finial, 4 1/2" tall without and 2 3/4" wide
No finish, just buffed.
Beautiful! Neal, if your out there, ME TOO! I am fascinated by this wood and would love to take a turn at it.
Jim, you did a FINE job in design and implementation.
