Spiral Limed Ash Vase

Spiral Limed Ash Vase

This 11 inch tall vase was turned from ash using a multi-axis technique on the top half to generate the twist. Because ash has such prominent grain markings, it lends itself to using liming wax to highlight the grains in white against a stained black turning. The twisted surfaces highlight some unique grain patterns. Finish is Watco oil with Briwax liming wax.
