Spalted applewood burl vase

Spalted applewood burl vase

really had some fun turning this one and was only my second time working with burled wood as well as spots of punky wood
Diameter is 113mm height is 180mm power sanded from 100 to 400 grit finished with tung oil.
Absolutely beautiful vase Ross. The wood grain and spalting of the burl goes very well together. Great job!

@Lamar Wright Thank you, this vase is one of my favourite turnings it kind of reminds me of a raging fire when I look at the grain patterns and I have also entered this in a photo competition in the woodturning magazine that our woodworkers association here in New Zealand publishes.

@Lamar Wright I won't get my hopes up but you never know the last winner was a pyrography portrait which was totally stunning even if I didn't win and the photo got published as one of the ones that made it through I would be happy with that because that is still an achievement in my eyes.
