Segmented bowl with sunrise feature ring

The sunrise was inspired by details in Malcolm Tibbetts book. Walnut and maple. 12" tall x 11" dia. The walnut came from an old house my in-laws demolished back in the 1950's. As salvaged wood, it is unique because it was probably harvested in the late 1800's or early 1900's. It is filled with old cut nails, rust stains, and rot from sitting in a barn for 60 years. My bowls often include some of those defects, as a reminder of the heritage associated with this wood. This bowl is being donated to our local Rotary Club, for a raffle and fund raiser.
