Sassafras Bowl

Sassafras Bowl

This bowl is from a neighbors sassafras tree. I got several blanks, but most had worm holes. This blank was free from the worm activity. 9 1/2” diameter 3” tall and finished with walnut oil. C&C welcome
Good timing. I got a couple of pieces of sassafras from a friend recently - my first. Sanding on a 12" natural edge today so good to see a piece done. Looks nice. I've been surprised at how soft the wood is. A challenge to sand and get out most of the growth ring ridges.

@Randy Anderson, Thanks Randy
Yes, sassafras is soft and difficult to sand because of it. I did 3 natural edge bowls, 2 with bark on. However a lot of worm holes in the two with bark.
