This piece has been sitting in the freezer for years and l thought it was time to do something with it. l believe it is Rosewood Burl. I started off with the intention of just making a simple bowl, but when l had finished l felt it needed more. I stated carving out following the outside shapes. It ended up looking a little like the piece Chris Ramsey posted awhile back, but not as big or beautiful. l felt awfully guilty cutting the inside out as it was just as beautiful all the way through.
Very hard to photograph, move the light away and you cannot see the phenomenal grain, and the photo still does not show the scalloping that clear. It sits nicely without having to touch any of the outside burl. 13” W x 7.5” H
