Lancewood

Lancewood or Acacia Shirleyi, hard unforgiving when green, harder when dry. But has rich colour to the heart and the light sapwood makes a great contrast when turned concentrically. Generally used for stockyard rails as it splits badly, its notorious for its movement when drying. Satin poly finish 5x3.5"

Nicely done. I really like how you used the sap wood to accentuate the color.

I've just started doing hollow forms and looking for examples that I think I can follow. I like the extra little and simple but nice detail on the opening. I'll give it a try on my next one. It will likely be plain old american sycamore - nothing as exotic as yours on my shelf.
