Happy Practice...Side A

Maple, 18 inches. So, I was practicing/experimenting recently with the textures I could make with the multitudes of under used rotary burrs that I have. I kind of liked my practice board so I decided to continue my practice on a cracked up piece of Maple that I had (didn't want to waste a good piece). Although these photos do not show it, the disc is concave on both sides. As you can tell from this photo and the ones below, I did not try real hard to "stay within the lines" as this was just a practice piece. Anyway, long story short, this is the only turning that I have ever done that my wife said that she wanted to display in our home. Go figure...I probably would have either burned it or turned the textures off to practice again. Lesson learned.
