Douglas fir and hard maple. (Each frame measures approximately 8 x 11 inches.)
Quite an interesting and provocative design. Well done. Not many people turn Douglas fir. How would you rate it?

Thanks. I should have been clearer in my description: the frames are made out of doug fir, the vases are made from hard maple. I don't have any experience turning douglas fir; all of my stock is from reclaimed, nail-ridden flat boards that are too thin to do much with on the lathe. Still, it's very pretty wood, especially the old-growth stuff I managed to salvage.
