Flower basket

This is another experiment with coloring a basket. This time a closed form instead of a bowl and this one is colored with ink (the black areas) and watercolor paints. I'll probably try the watercolor some more. It's easier to blend the colors and create any color you want. This one is some very plain western Box Elder, 9" x 4 1/4", and finished with a dose of danish oil with Krylon Matte over the top.
Very nice, Curtis. Did you apply the Danish oil over the watercolor or did you apply the Danish oil first? I ask because I ruined a piece several years ago when I applied Danish oil over the colors and caused everything to bleed together.

@Bill Boehme I applied the watco danish oil after I painted it. I used the Daniel Smith Extra Fine paint, my wife's. It's supposed to be archival and color fast. Neither the DO nor the matte spray caused any bleeding at all.

Great job on the color shading which makes this one of my favorite basket illusions. I think this piece deserves being on display in a art gallery somewhere.
