Off Center Malle

This was not a very promising burl. Decided to turn it flat and make a wall hangin. 9" x 11", finished with Watco Danish Oil. The off center elements were turned on two axis's.
very nice

Hi Keith,
Good looking work on the burl. As thin as it appears to be, how did you secure it for turning, especially for two center points?

Thanks guys.

Hey Gil. It's actually about an inch thick. The piece is flat on both sides. I used a technique I learned from an Englishman named Nick Agar. I cut a piece of MDF about 6 x 9 and hot glued it to the back of the piece, then used a three inch faceplate at different centers. When done just hit the hot glue with a hair dryer to pop the MDF off. A little sanding and your done. Check out Nick site for some really neat off center stuff. www.turningintoart.com
