5-sided box

5-sided box

This box with threaded lid has 5 sides and adds some faceted ornamentation on 2 of the larger sides. Originally inspired by urushi laquer artist Tatsuaki Kuroda, I've evolved the design to have 5 non-symmetrical sides and added faceted cuts on a portion of the surface. The most difficult part was to have the faceted cuts span the seam of the box and still line up properly. Cuts were made on an ornamental lathe. Size is 2" diameter, pink ivory wood.
