Questions about the hiring of the new Executive Director aren’t aimed at Cindy Bowman, but are inquiries into the BoD’s job performance. They should be held to the same standards that they held the last ED to. According to Tom Wirsing, that would be “financial management, business acumen, and clear and complete communication (in this case with the AAW members).

It seems like asking a question has become the big sin for some people on this forum.

Based on the resume posting she is a very sharp and competent lady. I can't imagine her taking the position without a contract. Of course, the first winter in St. Paul vs. Atlanta might be a deal breaker. I hope she doesn't have to put up with politics, we don't do it that way and instead is allowed shine in her own right. Her work is cut out but there is no reason she can't help make AAW a proud organization.

Now if she isn't a turner who will volunteer to give her the first lessons?

As a retired head hunter of 30 years it would be a very unusual situation for a new employer to get involved with the purchase of a home at this level. Moving expenses normally are picked up by the new employer (moving van, etc.). The only time a company usually becomes involved in the employees home purchase is when an existing employee is being transferred.

Dick, We went from 100's of thousand dollar forgivable signing loans, out and out purchase of home at a large profit plus all related moving expenses like trips to the Bahamas for stress relief (70's stock brokerage) to if you can be here by Jan. 1 you have a job with a 20% pay cut (80's banking).

Cindy has made a deal that for the most part is no business of the membership. She has a large resume and will be a very valuable asset to AAW. Once she is past the first couple of months she will start to shine.

People should not be conflating private sector (including publicly traded) corporate practice with public charity outfits like the AAW. Were the AAW to purchase a house in this context, it would be a) prohibited from making any money on the resale, or b) open to a serious charge of misuse of donations if the property was sold at a loss.

A "lose/lose" deal for the AAW.

Footnote: This is a very different situation from one in which a house gets donated to the AAW and it then sells the property to realize the monetary value of the donation.
