After a lot of thought and deliberation, the decision to cancel the Tennessee Association of Woodturners 2021 Woodturning Symposium has been finalized by the TAW Board. Out of an abundance of caution for everyone involved, the potential negatives outweigh the positives of moving forward with this event with the ever changing information available regarding COVID-19 impacts to meetings such as ours. Our goal as an organization is to continue to monitor the situation and determine how to offer the TAW annual woodturning symposium at some point in the future but we determined January 2021 will not work with all the uncertainty.

We will start to discuss the 2022 symposium scheduled for January 28 and 29, 2022 later this fall as more information is available - hopefully - for changes we may have to implement to host a symposium.

jeff, sad to see it. I wonder about the Florida Symposium in early Feb 2021.

being a sciences sort of guy I believe in arithmetic and science.
Florida is not doing well. We are now recording the highs in new cases.

Arithmetic says we could be doing better
South Korea has a population of 51 million, they have had 13,000 cases and 282 deaths
Florida has a population of 22 million, we have had 138,500 case and 3,419 deaths
Arithmetic says Less than half the population 10 x the deaths.

Unless we do something different than what we have done arithmetic suggests we will be worse off in February than we are now.

The average South Korean diet is a lot healthier then the processed foods the average American consume. Smoking, Obesity and pre-existing health issues are a major factor with the outcome of people that come down with the Covid-19 strain. If you can start drug treatments before it infects your lungs you stand a better chance of walking out of the hospital.
