Just found this on CPSC: https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2024/G...d-Lathes-Due-to-Injury-and-Laceration-Hazards On reading the details, they mention "the cutting tool can break" .... "Cutting Tool??!!" Hmm Somehow I got a feeling they are referring to the tool rest, judging from the appearance of the lathes in question, they look virtually identical to the Harbor Freight lathes. (Wonder if H.F. will be having a recall too...?)

But Also surprised I haven't seen mention of it here in the forums, I'd imagine it is something that Grizzly owners should know about.

Perhaps it refers to the set of cheap tools provided with the lathe. The Grizzly site has a page but no details.

I saw mention of this, there was a broken faceplate involved in one incident. Seems they got some inferior cast iron in the parts.
Figures. I don't have that model but I have started using my cast iron faceplate that came with mine lately. Now I'll be suspicious of it.

The article I read said cutter so I just thought it was one of the models with a duplicator on it or something.

I had this lathe but sold it through Craigslist when I bought my PM 3520C three years ago. As the purchaser of record, Grizzly notified me of the recall. I’ve tried to find the buyer through my old email or text messages but have been unsuccessful, as I think he’d likely want to take them up on the recall. I had replaced the tool rest extension twice, at my expense, as it did exactly what the recall suggests. It snapped as a result of a bad catch (forgive me, I was learning!). I’ve wondered if I could find the record of the replacement, if Grizzly would reimburse me. Not likely. Water under the bridge at this point.
