    A small but beautiful piece of straight, dry, tight grained fir 2x4 wouldn't have gotten a second glance from a construction crew a few generations back. Rare and expensive in today's world I couldn't bear to cast it into the burn pile. Three in one. 1-3/4" x 6-1/2" x 3" Thank you for looking!

    This one goes in the "let's try it" category. I turned wet fir. It was mostly easy. Then, it cracked. So, I inlaid some metal. See next photo. In the Pacific Northwest, we have a lot of fir.
