Christmas donut.
Lionel Mercier

Christmas donut.

No doubt, many will not recognize themselves in what I am going to relate.
They ignore their happiness.

When, fortunately, I come into possession of a beautiful piece of wood, what am I doing ?
... I put it aside carefully for when I get an idea ...
When at last I have "the" idea, what do I do ?
... I put it into practice on a piece of scrap because I risk missing, and so to spoil a nice piece of wood !

So here is a beautiful piece of maple burl that, contrary to the usual was textured BEFORE being turned.
I am already well experienced in these collaborations.

To everyone, I wish you a nice Christmas and good turnings for next year.
Wonderful collaboration. I think that I saw myself in your story about saving wood for the perfect project.

May you also have a joyous Christmas.

yes, give credit where credit is due......I know the comment is not original.....heck fire merry Xmas

Merry Christmas back to you, Lionel......:D

Bug "texturing" can add a great deal of interest, as in your turning here!

I know exactly what you're saying about putting a turning away until you know what you'll do with it. Not every piece of wood gets this special consideration, but some most definitely do!
